Question
Do YOU THINK THAT IRAQ HAS ALREADY MADE ANY NUCLEAR BOMBS OR REACHED TO THE SECRETS OF MAKING MASS-DESTRUCTION WEAPONS ? PLEASE ANSWER ME FRANKLY

Answer
We made good strides toward obtaining an atomic bomb, however, we were, in my opinion, 15-20% of getting it when the Gulf War started in 1991 and the nuclear weapon program stopped. The secrets are no longer secrets.

Question
What is the US-British intelligence information that you attempted to refute in your book about Iraq’s nuclear program? And how did you refute this information?

Answer
Their information was very much disinformation. By relying on "defector's" testimonials, and amplifying those declarations, they cherry-picked what suited their policies best. On top of that, they (by that, I mean the neoconservatives in the US) established their own Intelligence units that overshadowed the established ones, such as the CIA and the M16, and hence, blocked good Inteligence.

I tried to point out that since we started our nuclear weapons program in September 1981, and for ten years after that, the American, British and Israeli "Intelligence" did not grasp the strides that we had taken. They were surprised by what they found after the Gulf War of 1991. After that, they claimed that we had rejuvinated the nuclear weapon program, while in fact it was stopped completely.

That is what I tried to convey in my articlea since August 2002 and finally in my book, Iraq's Nuclear Mirage.

Question
Why did you leave Iraq in 1998?

Answer
I had promised myself since the middle sixties that my children would be raised in the warm Arabic culture of Iraq, but that their education would be the best I can provide for them. It is a tradition in my family. It took me seven years to manage to escape to achieve that goal.

Question
How do you assess scientific research in Iraq under Saddam? How do you assess it under the occupation?

Answer
It has been reduced to zero.

Iraq had embarked on providing scientific scholarships to its bright students since 1930. Thousands of students were sent abroad for sixty years to obtain higher degrees in all scientific aspects. Furthermore, after the nationalization of oil in 1971, the financial resources were made available.

Iraq practically irradicated illeteracy in the mid-eighties. Most importantly, there was a political will to push forward in scientific research. There were more than sixty research centers by the end of the nineties, staffed by thoudsands of scientists and engineers. I doubt whether the occupiers have left one center functioning. They are even devoiding scientific text books from "sensitive" subjects.

Question
What kind of chemical and biological weapons did Iraq possess? Till when did it possess them?

Answer
My field of specialization was nuclear. Scientists did not discuss other sensitive programs amongst themselves; same rule that applies in France, USA and other countries.

Question
Do you see a better future for Iraq free from all nuclear arms?
Answer
I would like to see, first, the Middle East (including ISRAEL) free from nuclear arms, and then hopefully the rest of the world, especially the USA.

Question
Did Saddam develop a nuclear bomb? If yes, or no, why?

Answer
Iraq was trying to develop the bomb, yes. As to why, the decision to fully pursue that goal was Israel's belligerent bombing of the two French-built reactors near Baghdad in July 1981. The decision was taken immediatly after that attack.

Question
Where are you currently resided and what does the future of Iraq look like to you?

Answer
I am now in Toronto, Canada. The Iraqis are a very strong people. They will defeat the occupiers, and they will resurrect.

Question
What were Saddam’s nuclear ambitions? To what extent did he manage to realize them?

Answer
Israel was allowed to obtain more than 200 atomic bombs by the seventies. That does not deter.

It should be apparent that North Korea and Iran have "an upper hand" on Bush by achieving their weapons.

Iran is still working on it, one may presume.

Question Do you expect the coaltion forces to find WMd in Iraq, justifying the war and vindicating their claims?
Answer
No, they will not, despite the $900 million they are spending on this "mirage." And if they can not vindicate their claims, one would expect that the American people would be vindicated.

one would expect that the American people would be vindicated by taking those committing this war crime to justice, the neoconservatives and Bush.

Question
Saddam's weapons posed a threat to the world, which is why the US went to war in Iraq. You have just said that he was actively developing a nuclear bomb.

Answer
That is what is claimed by Bush, if you believe in him.

We consider Israel's 200 bombs, in the hands of the war criminal Sharon, to be so described.

Those that are still developing more sophisticated nuclear bombs are the US and Israel, who may be the real threat to peace in the world.

Question
An Iraqi army officer has recently claimed it was he who told UK intelligence that weapons of mass destruction could be used within 45 minutes of an order from Saddam Hussein. He said that the claim is “100% accurate.” How do you comment on that? What do you think of the 45 minutes’ claim?

Answer
From subsequent declarations by this army officer, I believe even the reporters who interviewed him would take that "1" out of the "100".

The "45 minutes" claim is a fantasy brewed and amplified by Iraqi opposition groups loyal to feeding their Intelligence protectors with misinformation.

Question
What is the current state of the nuclear installations in Iraq? Have they all been obliterated?

Answer
The occupiers are not allowing the UN inspectors to finish their work, neither are they handed what the occupiers "Task Forces" have found during the past seven months. Perhaps David Kay is the one to answer this question, which is costing $900 million.

Question
I heard in a news that they have found a man and his wife trying to make WMD in Texas. However the international news haven't covered that story. what is your openion about this ( meaning that they haven't found any WMD in Iraq, but they found it in Texas). Thanks.

Answer
Yes, I read about that a few days ago. I wonder what happened to the story of the "white powder" in Wash DC two years ago that was supposed to be Iraqi?

For your information, Israeli "agents" stole enriched uranium form a Pennsylvania electric power station in the seventies. Not in the news either.

Question
Would you tell us about your experience as an Iraqi nuclear scientist in Iraq?

Answer
Gladly. I have, in fact, written a whole book about it. You would find it on the Internet (www.iraqsnuclearmirage.com). It is available in all North American bookstores and I have been mailing a signed copy of it throughout the world, upon looking into Book Availability at the above site.

Answer
Bush, the liar, is claiming that lie.

Question
What do you think of the detention of some Iraqi scientists by US authorities?

Answer
This is a painful question. The CIA is now visiting Jordan, Egypt and Saudi Arabia to prevent them from hiring Iraqi scientists who are trying to survive. Many have been mistreated and jailed. Iraqi "defectors" who lied about Iraq's WMD are spearheading this effort. Lately, about 28,000 teachers have been discharged because they had joined the Ba'ath party, most of them, just to find work.

Question
Do you think if the Iraq government gave their full cooperation to the International agencies investigating the weapons programs, would this current war be avoided?

Answer
This occupation was on the agenda of the neoconservatives and Israel for more than a decade.

They aimed for it, and had their chance with Bush's "election" and getting, through Cheney's umberalla in the Pentagon and the White House, and the 9/11 tragedy. It is strange that the neoconservatives, in 2000, had wished for a calamity similar to Pearl Harbor would befall the US just so that the American people would be convinced of such a war, and lo and behold, their prediction came true.
