Imam Achmad Cassiem is a prominent political activist who was heavily involved in the struggle against apartheid, and who was imprisoned on Robben Island. Achmad Cassiem has been the National Chairperson of the Islamic Unity Convention for nine years. He is the founder of the Qibla organization and he is currently an advisor to the Islamic Human Rights Commission.
