WIZARD CAPE

Created by Ms. Brenda

Materials needed:
  • One large black trash bag
  • scissors
  • ribbon for tie
  • star pattern click here
  • moon pattern click here
  • lightning bolt pattern click here
  • clear tape
  • colored paper

Directions:

1. Cut one inch across off the trash bag at the closed end.  You can throw this piece away.  However, if you don't have any ribbon you can always use this part of the bag for the tie.

2. Cut the bag straight down the middle and unfold to make a big rectangle shape.

3.  Fold down 5 inches from the top and tape down across.  This is the wrong side of the cape.  There are two durable thicknesses now when you cut slits along the bag where you will run ribbon through for the neckline.  Make the slits about 2 1/2 inches apart and each should be about one inch long.

4.  Run a long ribbon in and out of the slits.  The cape in the sample used 2 1/2 yards of ribbon.  You may choose to use a smaller amount, if you don't want a long tie.

5.  To decorate the cape print off the patterns of the star, moon and bolt and cut them out.  Trace around on colored paper the amount of shapes that you would like to use on your cape and cut them out.

6.  To attach the shapes to the cape use some clear tape on top of them.  Cover the entire shape leaving a tape border around the outside when you cut them out.  Press them onto the trash bag.
