We had the outside woodwork of the barns repainted in October 2007. Even so, from the outside Tom’s Barn and Douglas’s Barn don’t seem to have changed very much, since their more modest beginnings as cowsheds. Be prepared for a pleasant surprise when you step inside!
We are trying all the time to make each barn the sort of place we would love to stay in ourselves (if we were so lucky!). No frills and furbelows, just everything you need to feel totally relaxed and comfortable so you go home restored and refreshed, ready to meet the real world again.
You will find awaiting your arrival - apart from the welcoming tea tray and fresh flowers - a loaf of bread, a pint of milk, some butter and half a dozen freshly laid local farm eggs, flour, sugar rice etc and some herbs and spices. In the summer months you'll find a jug of fresh herbs from our garden in the kitchen. You should also find everything else, within reason, that you might possibly need (see Tom's Barn & Douglas's Barn pages for more detail). There are books to read, some DVD's and CD's, maps, walk books and some well-worn games.
All you should need to bring is your personal belongings and anything particular you may want to eat and drink. Now that we have a shop again (see news flash on the left) you will be able to top up on any necessities there. |
