The Grove of Anaheim will welcome multicultural comedy superstar Russell Peters to the stage for two nights July 19th and 20th. With 18 years of stand up under his belt, Russell Peters has carved his niche in the comedic world and built a massive underground following by word of mouth, completely bypassing mainstream media outlets.

Russell Peters has made his reputation by speaking to people that no one else speaks to – immigrant communities around the world including Indian, Arab, Caribbean, Chinese, Filipino, Korean, Vietnamese, and other South and Southeast Asian communities normally invisible to mainstream media. Unlike many in the current scene, Peters doesn’t tell jokes. Instead he uses his wry observations of race, class and culture to illuminate human shortcomings and elevates people in a funny way, rather than putting them down.

Peters' fresh take on comedy has landed him four Gemini Award nominations (the Canadian equivalent of the Emmys), spots on multiple international comedy festivals including Canada and Scotland, and he has sold out theaters and arenas across the US and Canada, all without ever appearing on network television in the United States. In 2007 alone he completed two USO tours and was part of a special Thanksgiving Tour; both events were for the troop’s station overseas. Also in 2007, Russell Peters was the first North American comic to tour in India and in 2008 Peters performed a sold out show at New York’s Madison Square Garden.
