Logos Smart Tags

Smart Tags are used in Microsoft Office 2002 and above to identify a type of text such as a name, phone number or ZIP code and allow a user to perform various actions on it. Logos Smart Tags allow Word to recognize a Bible reference, such as Gen. 1:1, as a Smart Tag. A user can then choose to open a Bible to that reference or insert the passage directly into Word.

When the "Replace with Passage" option is selected, the style and Bible version selected in the Libronix Copy Bible Verses feature is used. To change the style or Bible, click the black Bible icon in the Windows System Tray (by the clock). You can also create a new style (see the video!).

Install Logos Smart Tags

  • Close Libronix DLS, Microsoft Word, and any other Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook.
  • Click the link to launch Libronix Update, which will install the Logos Smart Tags components. Note that Logos Smart Tags requires version 3.0 or above of the Libronix DLS; your system will be updated to the latest version as necessary.

  • Open Word and type a passage, for example, John 3:16. Press the spacebar and the reference will be underlined with a light purple dotted line.
  • Click on the Bible reference and then click on  to access the Smart Tag options.

Notes

  • You might have to turn Smart Tags on in Word. In Word 2003 and below:
    1. Click on Tools | AutoCorrect Options, and click on the Smart Tags tab (see screen print below).
    2. Check the Label text with smart tags and the Logos Bible Software (Bible Reference) boxes, and click OK.
  • In Word 2007:
    1. Click the Office button (the new round button in the upper left corner).
    2. Click the Word Options button at the bottom of the dialog.
    3. Click the Add-Ins tab on the left.
    4. Select Smart Tags from the Manage: drop-down list and click Go.
    5. Check the Label text with smart tags and the Logos Bible Software (Bible Reference) boxes, and click OK.

  • If the Logos Bible Software (Bible Reference) option is not available as displayed above, you may have an older version of Logos Smart Tags installed. Click on Start | Control Panel and open Add or Remove Programs (Uninstall a program in Vista). Remove Logos Smart Tags, then reinstall the current version from the link above.
    • If your version of the Logos Smart Tags doesn't appear in the list, open My Computer (Computer in Vista) and navigate to C:\Program Files\Libronix DLS\Inbound. Right-click on the LogosSmartTags.msi file and choose Uninstall from the menu. If the .msi file is not there, check the C:\Program Files\Libronix DLS\Common\Components folder for a LogosSmartTags.lbxdat file, delete it, then reinstall the current version from the link above..
