Video of the Day: Beyonce “Ring the Alarm”

8/17/06, 5:38 pm EST

Beyonce

This video scares us a little. This song, with its “ring the alarm/I’ll be damned if I see another chick on your arm” chorus is all about that nasty, desperate, pre-breakup feeling where the relationship is fading but the jealousy thing is going strong. (Is it a cry for help? Check out the line where she describes her relationship as “not the picture perfect movie everyone would assume.”) The interrogation scene seems like a Basic Instinct reference but what’s up with the guards in riot gear? Or if it’s an Alias take-off, where’s the ass kicking? We welcome your two cents.

To all the women of the world we need to ring the alarm baby. You go beyonce, we love you girl!

well, I thought that I had seen everything when I watched the video called: Deja Vu. It was a disturbing video that was not only a testament to her love (for Jay-Z, maybe?) but an almost fanatical ode to her love for him. If I was her mother , I would be worried. And her moment where she is desperately unbuttoning Jay’s belt was props for him in the Hip-hop community, it was degrading for most young women who are her fans.

But then I saw her video, “Ring the alarm”. For those of you one kids that never watched “Fatal Attraction” with Glenn Close and Michael Douglas, you will see the resemblance. Better yet, watch the movie ” A thin line between love and hate” with Martin Short and Lynn Whitfield. Maybe you will see the similarities.

This girl needs to pull in the reins a bit and cool off. I am curious to see if Jay’s new album will includee a love-rap for Ms B. Or will his gangsta-self never let him expose himself the way she has. We will see what the wind blows.

I LOVE Ring the Alarm!!! On the internet everyone’s saying it’s crappy and that her career is over, and to all those people, I just want to say, RTA is one of the best songs out there and Beyonce’s career isn’t over, it’s just beginning.

This video is fire and so was deja vu. The world is so type cast about sexy females and videos in today’s society. All videos out now with females involve a studio, special effects, a luxury vehicle, and some type of snap dance trend. B is reppin for sistas tryna be different and I respect her. She did the whole typical thing with DIL, but this time around she wanted to switch up and be versatile, a quality many other artists dont posess. So forget the haters, it aint about bein a fan its about respecting change and versatility in a artist.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE THE SINGLE!!! People are shocked by her songs because they are used to the crap released by her so called “competitors” who have no vocal range and uninspired lyrics. I respect Beyonce for being different and setting the standard. STOP THROWIN SALT ON HER GAME!!!!!!!!!!!

i love it… she is reppin it for the women who have felt like this
