Gray Matters is on video starting today!

Go to your nearest video store or Netflix it and rent Gray Matters starting today, June 19th 2007. For those of you who haven't seen the movie, here is your chance. For all of you who have and have shown enormous support, here is your chance to share the movie with your friends or own the film for your personal collection. I know I haven't been blogging much and I apologize to all my Gray fans. I am busy working on my next movie and television projects and I hope to share them all with you in the near future. Gray Matters was one of the best professional experiences of my life and I will forever hold it close to my heart. I hope people who did not get a chance to see the film in theaters because it did not make it to their country or to their city will take the chance to see the movie on video. I believe we all need to learn more about tolerance, be romanced, and we all need to laugh. If I can accomplish that with your viewing, my job is done.

FYI, The DVD also has it's own website graymatttersdvd.com

Go to the link at planetout to read one of the first DVD reviews of the film.

Get to theaters this weekend, Spring is in the air!

Okay New Yorkers, Texans, Floridians, Michiganites, Shaker Hts and Columbus Ohio natives--this is one of your last chances to get out there and see the movie on the big screen. Spring is the air, it's time to get out of hibernation and get out there and see a movie that makes you laugh and cry and makes you feel really good when you walk out of the theater. Am I biased? Yes, definitely. However, I will tell you I get emails everyday from people who tell how much this movie affected them and how much they enjoyed it and only wished there were more movies like it out there. It's a date movie, a gal pal movie, a parents movie--it's for anyone who wants their spirit to be lifted. If you live in New York City like me--you can absolutely use some spirit lifting because it's a blizzard here today. Get into the theater, get warm and walk out with a smile on your face. Someone asked me today what are five words you would use to describe the movie? My answer: Empowerment, Courage, Joy, Self-Worth & Dance.

Gray Matters Does Dallas!

Sue_dallas_2 On March 7th, my husband Christophe Guillemot and I attended yet another fabulous "Gray Matters" premiere. Ann and David Sutherland hosted the most fabulous cocktail party for their most fabulous designer clientele in honor of "Gray Matters" opening in Texas. The setting was at The Dallas Angelica Film Center which is a lovely state-of-the-art film complex. Champagne was flowing, red carpets abounding, paparazzi fluttering and my favorite touch; 1940's inspired "hot box girls" with fishnet covered gams that reached the heavens. With a grin, a curtsy and a smile the gals handed out popcorn and candy as they pranced up and down the aisles.  Ahhhhhh, the good old days. Why can't a movie going experience always be like that? Going to a movie used to be like going to the theater. I wish we could resurrect the elegance of those days. Dallas locals laughed, cried, and cheered for the movie and its message. It was the last of our American parties and premieres and it was a perfect bookend to my Gray Matters "coming out" season.

From Writer to Director

I have written an in-depth article for MOVING PICTURES MAGAZINE this month about the journey of going from being a screenwriter to becoming a writer/director/producer. It is on newsstands now. Laura Dern is on the cover and the magazine is filled with great articles. It's one of the first intellectual movie magazines I have come across. Elliot Kotek is the editor-in-chief and I applaud him for his brave efforts in getting this magazine jump started. If you love film and want an insiders point of view, this is a magazine worth buying.

I love New York

I know it's cliche but I really do love New York and New Yorkers! Last night as I drove across the Brooklyn Bridge to do an introduction of the film at the Village 7 cinemas, I looked at the glistening skyline in front of me and couldn't help getting that feeling I always have of--"This is such a gorgeous, incredible, awe inspiring city!" I made Gray Matters as a love letter to this city. I realize the film is a vision of New York seen through rose colored glasses but when I look at the skyline or the Farmers Market in Union Square or Raouls in Soho or the magnificent Brooklyn Bridge, I could go on and on... my glasses are always rosy.  This city is where I live and draw inspiration from each and every day.  I will be back this coming Saturday night, March 10th, at the Village 7 Cinemas to introduce the film to my home town audience. We had a great crowd there this past weekend and I look forward to meeting more of you.

Dallas Premiere!

Sutherland Inc and Perennials Fabrics , two of the finest luxury design firms for outdoor textiles and furniture are graciously throwing the Texas "Gray Matters" premiere this Wed night March 7th 2007 in Dallas. Nothing can beat those Texans for their hospitality! We open on Friday March 9th at the Angelica Film Center in Dallas in addition to other cities across the US.

THINGS CRITICS SAY

Here are some lovely quotes that I particulary like from the critics.

"Graham takes this starring role and charms the roller skates off the audience."
Victoria Alexander, FilmsInReview.com

"Stealing every scene in which he appears, Alan Cumming twinkles" Steven Holden, New York Times

"Cavanagh and Graham well demonstrating their comic skills and Moynahan looking suitably gorgeous as the object of their desire." Frank Scheck, Hollywood Reporter

"The camera never strays far from Graham, who, decked out in well-fitted outfits that make the most of her anything-but-boyish figure, sweetly leavens her heroine's ditzy sexual confusion without trivializing or overly normalizing it."

"Pic revels in sprightly exchanges between the siblings, Graham and Cavanagh displaying a light, fanciful touch for comic timing"  Ronnie Scheib, Variety

"Gray Matters is ultimately a film of inclusion, that timeless story where love knows no barriers" Brett Leigh Dicks, Santa Barbara Independent

Gray Matters

  • Sue Kramer (Writer/Director)
With the release of her directorial feature debut, Gray Matters, Sue continues to build upon the characteristic charm and style that has made her one of Hollywood's rising talents. She has written scripts for such A-list talent as Julia Roberts and her acclaimed screenplay, "The Goldbergs and the Romanos," was honored by many "Best Hollywood Scripts Never Made" lists.
