256Mb

If upgraded, the MC-909 can load up to 256 Mb of RAM, but the SmartMedia cards fit only up to 128 Mb.

There are two solutions :

1) Use two smart media cards

In this case, make sure that the samples do not have the same ID numbers on the 2 cards. If you have, for example, 350 samples in RAM (200 Mb) you can save on the first card only the 190 first samples. Then it will be necessary to use the # 191 slot for the first sample of the second card (in the case of mono samples, of course ...).

To load the samples, you'll need, for the first card, to go to "Sample List" and to press MENU - Load All Sample. Then, once samples are loaded, you can insert the second card. Now, to load the samples of the second card, "MarkSetAll" should be ticked (Shift - F5, from the Sample List menu). If not, "Load" (Shift - F3) -> "Load All Sample" will erase the samples of the first card.

Patterns have to be saved on the first card or on internal memory, in order to be loaded at start up.

2) Use an XD card adaptater

Adapters make possible to use XD cards in slots planned for SmartMedia. Which is quite usefull, considering that SmartMedia are disappearing from the market...
