Why have I included him in this section on GOLD ?
Simply because he was a Gold Prospector in the early years of his life, and he penned some of the most
knowledgeable
texts on Prospecting and related subjects, that are still available today.
He wrote not from an academic background, but from real life experiences. The knowledge which he personally
gained by travelling extensively and working at a variety of occupations, allowed him to speak with some authority.
The Time-Line that I have included, may help you to understand, the extraordinary scope of his experience and knowledge.
He also wrote Short Stories and Articles for the Bulletin, besides his prolific output of published books by Angus & Robertson.
Not only is it my opinion, but others have rated his work entitled "Prospecting for Gold", as the bible of Gold Prospectors.
If you are in any way interested in Gold Fossicking, this book is required reading.
The year 1979, was the year of his death at age 90, it was also the year that I took up Gold Prospecting as a Hobby.
I like to think that the tradition of the Australian Digger, lives on !
