The Israel Diabetes Association was founded in the year 1946. The association’s goals are:
• Helping diabetes patients to improve their quality of life and to live a proper life in their community and family. • Explaining to the general public the importance of early diabetes diagnosis, prevention and care. • Developing diabetics’ and family members’ awareness of the diseases, its therapeutic modalities and importance of proper, consistent medical follow-up. • Disseminating information about diabetes and its treatment among diabetics through lectures, a newsletter and other methods, for improving their life quality and expectancy. • Promoting and encouraging training, research and training of physicians, nurses, dieticians and other helping professionals with a professional connection to the diabetes department and set up a group of diabetes educators. • Encouraging manufacture and marking of foodstuffs and other products as suitable for diabetic consumption along with marking directions for use. • Acting to prevent discrimination against diabetics in all fields of life, including medicine, employment, receiving driving licenses, insurance, pensions, national insurance, military services, etc. • Organizing the diabetic public and their family members as a social and/ or economic lobby group for advancing the interests of diabetics in all fields of life. • Acting in any manner for the well being of diabetics. • Acting to improve the standard of medical services for diabetics. • Acting to make contact with various bodies, including societies and/or organizations and/or corporations in Israel and overseas for promoting and fulfilling the society’s aims.
Association Symbol
• The association is entitled to grant a right to use its symbol for manufacturers and/or marketers and/or importers of appropriate products for diabetic use, examined by an expert and/or professional committee (hereinafter – the Committee). • The Committee is to make recommendations to the association with regard to granting the association’s approval for a product expressed in the association’s permitting applicants to make use of the association’s symbol on the conditions established in an agreement between the applicant and the association, in accordance with the committees’ recommendations. • In the case of the Committee giving recommendations, the association’s president and managing director are entitled to sign on the association’s behalf on an agreement with the applicant, subject to the agreement being for a limited term not in excess of two years. • The agreement must not bar the association from approving other products and/or competitors. • The applicants are to be obliged to pay for funding the Committee approval proceeding expenses, whose sum is to be established from time to time by the central committee’s management. • The use of the association’s symbol for products approved by the Committee is to be paid for according to a rate established by the president, managing director and treasurer. After submitting your product to our food committee inspection, and receiving their approval, you can choose to be a member for our association symbol in one of two categories: Category A: 1. The company name and list of its products are published in each issue of our magazine, which is published in 12’000 copies and is delivered by mail to all members of Israel Diabetes Association, and to all diabetes clinics in Israel. 2. Your company may send your brochures and advertising material through us to our mailing list. (physicians, nurses, dieticians, patients), twice yearly. 3. One advertisement (page) in the scientific meeting abstract book - free 4. 2 advertisements (pages) in our magazine – free 5. A free stand in the association events . such as the scientific conference, general assembly, nurses conference. 6. A free stand in all branches meetings (meetings with patients). • the payment is $8.400 per year
Category B 1. The company name and list of its products are published in each issue of our magazine. 2. Your company will be given the opportunity of direct mailing through the Israel Diabetes Association twice a year at the cost of our expenses only. (about $75) 3. A free stand in all branches meetings (meetings with patients). 4. Advertisement in our magazine and abstract book – for payment ($1000-2000) 5. Putting up a stand in the scientific meetings and the general assembly – for payment ($500-1000) • The payment is $ 2,700 per year
