Soundmag: As you started with the first two records, you belonged to the so-called "new acoustic movement". I think that was completely wrong. Have you thought about changing anything? With "Do you imagine things?" a lot of things have changed. New producer and more different sounds. What is the reason for that ?

Lee: Ken Nelson was the producer of the new record, he did Coldplay´s album, he did Badly Drawn Boy´s first album, and he made Gomez and Embrace. He has got an Indie history. It was the labels idea to use Ken really. We also thought he is the right guy. It was the NME that made that phrase. We wouldn't say we belong to this. We have just one song with an acoustic guitar and they're made us belong to this scene. They do that to make their life easier, their try to put people into this scene to sell more magazines. They made this garage new rock revolution, New Rock, whatever. They can do an eight side special about The White Stripes and a Detroit Special the people will buy it. We are not like this other acoustic bands. The first albums- we were quite acoustic based. That is just because we didn't have electric guitars. We didn't have money and Twisted Nerve wasn't really a good label (angry) they didn¹t give us any advance, they didn't even paid for the first album. They just said make it, borough the time in some peoples studio. We just wrote the songs at home on acoustic guitar, which was my first guitar, which was five years old. We needed the tools. In this time around we got the tools, you know, we signed to Parlophone. They give the money for the equipment. They gave us guitars and stuff and a Mac as well to record some things. Now we can do whatever we want, we can play cello, flutes and stuff. We writing the songs in the same way, we just got more possibilities.

Soundmag: That sounds like you were kids in a toyshop.

Lee: Yeah, yeah exactly.

Soundmag: I have heard how good you produced the album, but how can you make all that stuff on stage?

Lee: We have a hard disc recorder for some background things. It is five of us in the band; we would need seven to play all that live. If we had more hands, we wouldn't need the hard disc. You know five people can't be a choir. It's a case of that, really. We can play every song live except "My blood taste like thunderstorms" we can't play that live in that style.

Soundmag: I've heard "Hey Mole". Had this something to do with Pink Floyds "Eclipse"?

Lee: Aahmm. Yeah you got it! But it's not the same song. It's just got a familiar feeling.

Soundmag: You are a band from England and you belong to the "Reindeer Section". The most members of Reindeer Section belong to bands from Scotland.

Lee: There is a long history about bands in Scotland. You can go to a pub in Glasgow it's called Nice 'n' Sleazy's. You can be sure to find someone from Mogwai or Arab Strap or Belle and Sebastian or Snow Patrol and there is another one in Manchester you can find there; Elbow, I am Kloot, Alfie and all that. We did a tour with Snow Patrol 3 years ago, it was the first tour we ever been on. We had two giant tour buses. The first bus was for all the crew, all the sound managers and appliance. The second bus was just ours and Snow Patrols this bus was full of beer and alcohols. We shared the bus for two weeks so we´ve been talking about the Reindeer Section. If you want to be in, you can. So that's the story.

Soundmag: You¹ve changed the label after the second album, right?

Lee: Yeah. We have done three albums now. The first one was we put out three E.P.´s we just put them together that was the first album. There was no money to record the album. We recorded the three E.P.s. Twisted Nerves said; ok record an album, and we said " How? You have to give us some money, you have to put us in a studio." That was the first album. We went into a studio for a few weeks and did the second one. By that time we thought about a lot of things. We couldn¹t go on proper tours. The truth was; we did five gigs after the second album and that was it. We had a two-album deal with twisted nerves and we did the albums as good as we could. I think the third album is much better basically. We moved to Regal and their put us in a studio for 4 months.

Soundmag: Was it that easy to get the deal with Regal?

Lee: Their already wanted to sign us. I kept in contact with them. Before we were signed with Twisted Nerve we hat offers from every record label. Twisted Nerve was a really cool Indie-label that time. We had a lot labels phone us. But only two labels came down to visit us in the practice room; Twisted Nerve and Parlophone. We thought we're not ready for a big label, so we signed to Twisted Nerve. But basically after the first album Twisted Nerve told us we could leave. Then we had the chance to sign to Parlophone, but we said no. So we did the second album very quickly. But nothing happens. We said Bingo! We´ll change to Parlophone.

Soundmag: Fine. Could tell me a little more about your inspiration for your third album.

Lee: Yeah. The most obvious of the late 60s psychedelic scene the beach boys were involved in that as their started with this pet sound. Pink Floyd with their first albums, that Syd Barrett stuff, The United States of America. Much of that obscure late 60s psychedelic stuff.

Soundmag: What will you do after this tour? Going back into a studio?

Lee: We going .....to go ... on tour, after this tour, around England. We are going on tour after the release of the "No need" single. This is the 4th one now.
