EastEnders wins TV Soap of the Year

Wed 11 Mar 2009

The Television and Radio Industries Club have crowned EastEnders with this top award.

The Television and Radio Industries Club (TRIC) awarded EastEnders with TV Soap of the Year at Grosvenor House, London on 10 March.

TRIC embraces and recognises TV programme makers and broadcasters, and radio producers and makers. The awards are held annually and are voted for by many members of the industry - not by a panel of judges or a committee.

Diederick Santer, Executive Producer said: "We're delighted to win yet another 'Best Soap' award, this time at the prestigious TRIC.

Diederick Santer

"We're putting together quite a run - since last May we've won at British Soap, National TV, TV Quick, Inside Soap, and now TRIC. It's all because we've got the most talented cast and crew in the business, and the most fantastic and dedicated audience. Thanks to you all."

Other winners at the awards included Lark Rise to Candleford, New Tricks, Top Gear, Strictly Come Dancing, Gavin & Stacey and Have I Got News For You.
