Gross, Limerick to Occupy Harvey Slots on ABC Radio
ABC Radio Networks has
notified affiliates that ABC News Radio's Gil Gross (far left) and Doug
Limerick will fill the three daily slots occupied by the late Paul Harvey.
During the interim, Gross will host the daily 5-minute morning slot,
previously occupied by "News & Comment." Limerick will handle the "Rest of
the Story"'s afternoon slot. Gross, who will also handle the 15-minute
weekday and Saturday midday broadcasts, is a 30-year industry vet who
previously hosted "The Gil Gross Show" for CBS. He's also a longtime fill-in
host for Harvey. Limerick, an Edward R. Murrow Award winner, "will focus
on the day's news mixed with folksy, positive stories" for the "Rest of the
Story" time slot. Gross told RADIO ONLINE that he is only an
interim host and that ABC's future plans would not include him in the
longterm. "I have one of the very best jobs in radio at Citadel's KGO and I
don't think anyone wants me to hog 2 such jobs," he said in an e-mail.
