 ANIME |  | BLEACH: MEMORIES OF NOBODY | | VIZ Media licenses first �Bleach� film for U.S. release, plans theatrical run | | | Posted 03/25/08 | |  | |  In a move surprising few and satisfying many Bleach fans, VIZ Media announced the North American rights to Memories of Nobody, the first film based on the popular shonen action series.
Like many movies adapted from long-running shonen TV shows, Memories of Nobody is a self-contained story, one centering on �blanks,� spirits trapped between the human world and the afterlife. Series protagonist Ichigo Kurosaki is called on to investigate, along with hordes of his Soul Reaper allies and antagonists and the film also introduces some new villains as well as Senna, a mysterious girl who attracts Blanks. Fans shouldn�t count on the new cast members having any effect on Bleach�s overall story, but there�s a wealth of nicely animated fight scenes to take in.
Bleach: Memories of Nobody was directed by Noriyuki Abe, who�s also in charge of the still-running Bleach TV series. Abe�s helmed the second Bleach film, The DiamondDust Rebellion, released in Japanese theaters this past December.
According to VIZ, Bleach: Memories of Nobody will have a short theatrical run this summer, followed by a DVD release by the end of the year.
