American Recovery and Reinvestment Act
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 has three immediate goals:
- Create new jobs as well as save existing ones- Spur economic activity and invest in long-term economic growth
- Foster unprecedented levels of accountability and transparency in government spending

American Recovery Act - Education
Kansas will benefit from more than $580 million for tuition assistance and improved public education.
This money will support local school districts, keep teachers in classrooms and maintain pre-school and special education programs, and provide increased financial assistance for students to attend college. The American Recovery Act will lay the groundwork for today’s students to meet the demands of a 21st century workforce.
American Recovery Act - Energy
Kansas will receive $96 million to promote energy independence, including money to make home and business repairs and upgrades that will improve energy efficiency. Businesses can also obtain financial assistance to make their processes and facilities more energy efficient and participate in alternative energy projects.
American Recovery Act - Health Care
The American Recovery Act provides an estimated $510 million to increase access to quality health care for Kansans
