Dr. Lee Hobbs, right, is hooded by Dr. James Cahalan of Indiana University of Pennsylavania.

MOBILE – Lee Hobbs, a 2003 alumnus of Spring Hill College’s Master of Liberal Arts program, recently received his Doctorate of Philosophy in literature and criticism from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

In 2002, Hobbs competed three study-abroad programs in Ireland, England and Poland through Spring Hill College while working on his MLA in literature.

His Ph.D. dissertation focused on Turn-of-the-Millennium American Expatriate Narrative. Hobbs has taught at the University of Silesia (Sosnowiec, Poland: 1994-95), Seton Hill University (Greensburg, Pa.: 2007-08), and Saint Francis University (Loretto, Pa.: 2007). He will relocate this summer with his spouse to Tampa, Fla., where he has accepted a tenure-track teaching position with the faculty of Saint Leo University’s Department of English.

Hobbs says he is “living proof that the preparation a graduate student receives at SHC is the perfect catalyst for personal, academic and professional success.”
