SkyCourt pleases judges and fliers
Friday, 14 October 2011

The recently inaugurated SkyCourt terminal at Budapest’s Liszt Ferenc International Airport was recognised with the European Award for Steel Structures this week.

“While this is a great honour for us the positive feedback coming from travellers every day is also very important,” Budapest Airport development director Stephan Schattney said at the ceremony. “This award is the recognition of the excellent teamwork that has been an important characteristic of this development from the first to the final stage.” The prize of the European Convention for Constructional Steelwork is awarded biannually and former recipients include the Formula-1 racetrack in Abu Dhabi and the Aviva football stadium in Dublin. Apart from the recognition, the airport closed a strong third quarter with passenger numbers in September up 6.1 per cent compared to September 2010. In the first nine months of the year 6.8 million travellers used the airport, up 533,000 from last year, which means that reaching the target of 8.7 million passengers for the entire year is more and more likely.
