What is practical information anyway. When you're looking for information on movies, anything at all, try the Internet Movie Database. They recently got some much needed faster servers. Looking for upcoming movies go to Movieweb for links to the major studio's.
As far as music is concerned, we haven't found any big one's yet (mail us if you find any). Anyway, there are some who are trying like On-Line Music Database, WWW Music Database, Music Reviews and Top-N Charts and one with more results Yahoo - Entertainment:Music:Artists. Finally, The Music Review has several links if you're still looking.
For more general entertainment sites visit Entertainment Extra.
There are sites which keep up what is new and what is interesting on the net. Look at Point and Internet Users Select Favorite Web Sites (sometimes slow) and Iway 500.
Go to City Net to find information about many, many cities in the world.

Connecting to the internet doesn't always come easy (we got some help from Ron). Look at this link for FreePPP and MacPPP software and updates.

There are many graphics and pictures on the Web. Download JPEG View 3.3.1 now and add this great application to your browser to view them.

Many files on the internet are available on ftp servers. To access and download these files you can use Fetch and Anarchie to find your way around these places.

There are company's who try to make a difference, not only with their products but also by being motivated by social and environmental values, which are part of their mission statements. There are also non-profit organisations who try, with the help of millions of members, making the world a beter palce to live in.

The Body Shop is an unconventional cosmetics company.
Through selling various exotic dairy products Ben & Jerry's try to change the world.
Greenpeace International is an independent, campaigning organisation which uses non-violent, creative confrontation to expose global environmental problems, and to force the solutions which are essential to a green and peaceful future.
Amnesty International, the human rights organisation.
Friends of the Earth is a large international network of environmental groups.
GreenNet is part of the only global computer network specifically designed for environment, peace, human rights and development groups.
Rainforest Action Network works to protect the Earth's rainforests and support the rights of their inhabitants through education, grassroots organizing, and non-violent direct action.
EnviroLink, the largest online environmental information resource on the planet.
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals PETA, with close to half a million members, is the largest animal rights organization in the world.
OneWorld is a meeting place for the international community.
