Introducing...
The WD Enterprise 9.1 GB
Ultra SCSI 3.5-Inch/Low Profile
Hard Drive
Western Digital, a recognized leader in time-to-volume hard drive manufacturing, is first to offer a low-profile 9.1 GB high-performance SCSI hard drive. Our team of expert enterprise storage engineers developed this leading-edge drive using Western Digital's proven technology and world-class quality processes.
The WD Enterprise WDE9100the second in a family of low-profile 7200 RPM drivesdelivers outstanding performance, capacity, and reliability, and is an excellent choice for workstation, server, multi-user, data warehousing, audio-video, and array/RAID applications.
The drive features a formatted capacity of 9.1 GB in a low-profile form factor with Ultra SCSI host data transfer rates up to 40 MB/s. This device also supports high performance I/O features such as adaptive caching, command queuing, command reordering, active termination, S.M.A.R.T. (Self Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology), and SCAM (SCSI Configure AutoMagically) that allow for multi-threaded I/O and more intelligent drive reporting. This drive supports 50-pin, 68-pin, and 80-pin (SCA-2) connectors. In addition, advanced data protection capabilities such as thermal asperity detection and correction in hardware make this hard drive ideal for the mission critical enterprise computing environment.
The WD Enterprise WDE9100 delivers the performance, capacity, and reliability demanded by all high-performance enterprise systems.
Competitive Profile of 9.1 GB SCSI Hard Drives.

Features
- High Disk Capacity - We offer our customers a time-to-market low-profile 9.1 GB hard drive using second generation headerless embedded servo that allows for greater format efficiencies, Western Digital's fifth generation PRML channel, and magnetoresistive (MR) head technology.
- High Performance - The WDE9100 features a low 4.17 ms rotational latency, Serpentine seek technology that increases data throughput by reducing servo overhead during track switches, and advanced PRML channels that allow media data rates up to 20 MB/s and Ultra Fast Wide host transfers up to 40 MB/s.
- Superior Quality and Reliability - The WDE9100 leverages on our first generation product family that has demonstrated reliability over 1,000,000 hours and has already achieved world-class quality. In addition, a 5-year warranty and 1 million hour MTBF means years of maintenance free operation.
- Low Power - Our efficient electrical design technology reduces power to 9.2 Watts at idle, which is 20% less than existing 1.6-inch high form factor 9.1 GB drives.
- Low Acoustics - WD Enterprise drives incorporate innovative spindle technology that reduces acoustics to a low 4.0 bels at idle.

Notes:
1. Western Digital defines a megabyte (MB) as 1,000,000 bytes, and a gigabyte (GB) as 1,000,000,000 bytes.
2. Average Read Seek Time is determined by dividing the total time required to seek between all possible ordered pairs of track addresses by the total number of these ordered pairs at nominal environmental conditions.
3. Contact your local Western Digital sales office for additional configurations.
4. No non-recoverable errors during operating tests or after non-operating tests.
5. Sound power level.
