About Harlequin

'Look at the harlequins!'
'What harlequins? Where?'
'Oh, everywhere. All around you. Trees are harlequins, words are harlequins. So are situations and sums. Put two things together - jokes, images - and you get a triple harlequin. Come on! Invent the world! Invent reality!'
- Vladimir Nabokov, Look at the Harlequins!

Harlequin is a high-tech software company dedicated to solving the hard problems. Founded in 1986 by Jo Marks, the company has grown from a small office above his garage to a network of multi-national sites. Today Harlequin employs over 300 people on three continents, and plans to double that and reach a few more continents in the near future.

Harlequin is also a character from the Italian Renaissance theatrical style called Commedia dell'Arte. He is an intelligent servant, noted for his quick wit and his unique solutions to difficult problems. He is easily identified by his diamond-patched costume, distinctive hat, his batté, and his black mask.

The clever and unorthodox antics of Harlequin reflect the irrepressible spirit of the Renaissance - the same irrepressible spirit that is the trademark of Harlequin the company. We are not your typical high-tech, cutting edge company. Our staff comprise of some of the best software developers around, as well as experts in a select range of product families. The company is built on a solid foundation of software tools and solutions: our treasure chest of technologies. These, combined with our unique problem-solving approach and our passionate spirit, add up to the Harlequin Advantage.
