A Brief Outline of Southwest Airlines' Carryon Policy
Beginning February 2, 1998, Southwest Airlines will strictly enforce the two-item limit for carryon baggage (and on heavily booked flights, carryon items may be further restricted).
Maximum size for a carryon is 10" x 16" x 24".
These items are permitted aboard and DO NOT COUNT toward the carryon limit:

* Unapproved child-restraint devices may not be used during taxi, takeoff, and landing.
For better ontime performance, flight crews are permitted to exceed carryon limits as they may be called to a waiting flight without notice.
