What's included:
With Internet Explorer 4.01, you get the complete Web experience! The product includes True Web Integration, which brings together your PC and the Web, and additional components such as NetMeeting and FrontPage Express. You can choose from the following component packages:

Browser Only: (13 MB) Includes the Internet Explorer 4.01 browser, Java™ Support, and DirectX multimedia technologies. (Does not include True Web Integration [Active Desktop™].)

Standard: (16 MB) Adds Microsoft Outlook™ Express, True Web Integration, and Microsoft Wallet to the Browser Only installation.

Full: (25 MB) Adds Microsoft NetMeeting™, NetShow™, FrontPage® Express (formerly FrontPad), Microsoft Web Publishing Wizard, and Microsoft Chat 2.0 to the Standard installation.

128-bit Security: 128-bit versions of Internet Explorer, often used in online transactions, are only available to customers living in the United States or Canada. If you have a previous version of 128-bit Internet Explorer installed, you only need to install the regular version of Internet Explorer 4.01 to maintain that security. If you do not have a previous version of 128-bit Internet Explorer and are interested in obtaining higher security, please visit our 128-bit page.

Windows NT 4.0 Users: If you have a previous version of 128-bit Internet Explorer installed, you only need to install the regular version of Internet Explorer 4.01 for Windows 95 and NT 4.0 to maintain that security. If you do not have a 128-bit version of Internet Explorer and you are running Windows NT 4.0, you need to download NT Service Pack 3 before you can run Internet Explorer 4.01. The NT Service Pack 3 is also included on the Internet Explorer 4.01 CD.

Uninstalling Preview Versions of Internet Explorer 4.0: If you have a preview version of Internet Explorer 4.0 on your computer, Microsoft recommends that you uninstall it before installing this final release. To uninstall, go to the Control Panel and click Add/Remove Programs. Select Internet Explorer 4.0 from the list, and then click the Add/Remove button.

International users: To get the most from Internet Explorer 4.01, be sure to load the appropriate language version that matches your operating system. Running unmatched versions may limit your ability to use some features such as the Windows Desktop Update.
