What luck or is that an X-file, I noticed the guy 2 before me uses the same ISP and live sin the same city and Loves the Saskatchewan Roughriders as much as I do. Well I'm one of those people who has not had a flawless time in getting ppp to log on to my ISP via Linux and netscape but I can use Seyon to do this and I can get pppd to dial out. I then discovered after much hacking at the chat scripts and looking in the syslog that my ISP was not eight bits clean which has lead me on a wild chase looking to find what that means. I now know that I have to set the asyncmap correct according to the ISO character set that I am using. Your page has been quite helpful in fleshing out my understanding of this configuring of ppp and the consequent use of netscape which by the way did a neat O coredump on me which damaged the file system when I shut it down. Anyhow now you know how I got here. Actually I worked in the topend back in the early 80's Cheers Peter, Emi and the cat
