- Why don't you update Hot News every day?
- We update the page frequently, whenever we have important news to share.
- Are you aware that "Think different" is bad grammar? You should say "Think differently"!
- Although some might want "different" to perform as an adverb in this phrase, complete with an "ly" ending, Apple and its advertising agency intend it as a fanciful category, just as we might say "Think yellow," "Think change" or "Think playful."
Here's an illuminating quote from an interview with George Gribbin, legendary copy supervisor of the Young & Rubicam advertising agency and creator of the ungrammatical but highly successful slogan "Winston tastes good like a cigarette should":
"The American language is a good, salty, homespun, colorful language. And it is that way because of the vernacular. There's just nothing like pieces of the vernacular in advertising, or in any other kind of writing. It's not just using the vernacular, it's using the color of the life around you in a fresh way."
Think vernacular. Think different.

- What support does Apple offer to customers?
- Support for Apple products is specified in the materials that come with the product at the time of purchase. Check these materials to discover what support is available and how to access it.
- Where can I find customer support online?
- The Support area offers online support for Apple customers. Along with the Apple Manual Archive and the Support Options area, these three areas of Support are especially useful:
- Technical Information Library
- The Technical Information Library (TIL) is our database of product specifications and answers to common technical questions. The TIL answers are used by our own technical support staff to answer customer questions.
- Tech Exchange Discussion Boards
- Looking for a support system which facilitates the exchange of ideas, problems, and solutions? Use the discussion boards of the Tech Exchange to post your questions and receive answers.
- Apple Software Updates
- Here you will find a browsable and searchable hierarchy of Apples latest downloadable software updates, fixes, and printer drivers. When browsing Apple Software Updates, watch for text files (.txt) which contain useful descriptions and information about the updates.
- What about email customer support?
- Apple does not provide general email technical support at this time. Please check the resources listed in the Support area for the latest customer support information.
- Where can I download Apple software updates?
- The webmaster's advice is to start with Software Updates, part of our Support area. Use the links to Apple's software updates archive to find the software you need.
- Why are the Apple software update sites so busy?
- Apple's FTP servers handle hundreds of thousands of requests each week. Sometimes, especially after a popular upgrade has been announced, the servers get crowded and refuse additional connections in order to serve existing connections. A software update may consist of many large download files and may fill the servers to capacity during the peak of its popularity. If you can't get through, here are some strategies you may try:
- Try your request at off hours (usually 11 pm to 6 am Central time).
- If you use AOL, try downloading from the Software Updates in the Apple area on AOL (Keyword: AppleComputer).
- If you prefer to use an FTP client for downloads and find the servers are too busy, try using the World Wide Web pages to start your search and only switch to FTP when you need to transfer software.
- Try again in a few days.
- How do I find out the status of my rebate or other promotional offers?
- Please call 1-800-YES-APPL to inquire about the status of your rebate or other promotional offers.
