I am a Finn, who is living for the time being in Stockholm, from time to time in Helsinki. For many years I used to study theatre directing in Italy. Which then finished in different difficulties and in a complicate way I also fall in love with a young actor. But in Italy I also found my own, mor or less bisexual identity, which has given me much.

In many questions I disagree with with the "gay"-subculture about sexuality, its general politics and behavings. When I was younger, I clearly saw that it easily destroys young people and their dreams, by abuse and one night consumtion. They grow tih these ideas and think, that a real relation and love is never possible if you love the same sex. I believe in individual identities and ways of living, and find thats young people should have their dream, that real love is possible. I don't think that it necessary makes you different if you love the same sex. But sexuality and love is complicated...

But as a Finn a have a great affinity for the Russians as people, and I think thats real Russians can love an cry, and feel big feelings. I travelled alreade i the Soviet Union when I studied history, though I have never haved a Russian lover.

This autumn I red the pages of Kevin Moss about the hostory of homosexuality in Russia in ancient times till now. I found much information which I thought was reliable, about the common homosexuality in Middle Ages and forward and how common it was int the last century and still in the Silver Age smong the upper classes. I was also appealled about the tolerance in reality of the Orthodox Church compared with the West. This and how much homosexuals there has been in Russia was news to me, also that in reality homosexuality was almost never punished.

Probably Moss was right about that the bolsheviks where not so tolerant before Stalin as I have thought, it brought me to conflicht with my Communist youth idealism, though I, as a leftist theatreman, admired the theatrical culture of St Peterburg in the beginning of the century and during the Bolshevik experiments, foremost Meyerhold, whom Stalin tortured and killed, when he killed everything thats also was good in the beginning.

I still have a big affiinity for the Russians and see the big sufferings of the people governed by crooks - and their is some love that remains. I feel myself alien to Seden and the Swedes, who are cold and very little emotional.

Why am posting a message here? Actually, I'm very much into Russia, I've studied in Piter as well but found it extremely difficult to get in touch with the tusovka, whatever that might be like, I haven't a clue. As far as I've heard, Russian gay life seems to have changed over the last few years - I was there in 1995-96 for the last time and found the situation for us, men of the men, really depressing.
