PCGamer walkthrough

The 'PCGamer' series has been astonishing successful since it exploded into our collective consciousness back in 1994, changing our gaming lives forever. The latest version of this trend-setting series, known to its adoring public simply as the June Issue, is a worthy successor to the its illustrious forebears and will need all your skills and knowledge to complete.

Before you start, be sure to load up with a cup of tea and as many chocolate hobnobs as you can muster. Set comfort levels to maximum and turn down the lights. Slippers and pipe are optional. PCGamer starts with a couple of gentle sections to ease you into the magazine.
'Scoop' is a unique feature, offering exclusive graphics and storylines not seen elsewhere. Digest the information about Mafia, Startopia and Cultures:Creators Of A New World - you may need it later.

Move on to impressive Eyewitness level and marvel at the use of the very
latest news harvesting technology. Be warned, this section contains several elements that could hamper your progress, including a series of astonishingly punning strap lines. If you've picked up the humour bypass phial, use this now and jump straight to the Top 100 Awards section.

To open this secret 'hidden' level you will need to call on all your gameplaying dexterity. Go to the bottom right of the page, insert the finger tool under the top layer and move upwards quickly to open the catch. This manoeuvre may need to be repeated a few times but is well worth it for the untold treasures to be found within. No fewer than 100 of the best ever games are in here, take you time to explore them all - everyone is a winner. A series of ugly gargoyles stand in your way, but simply bribe them with beer and bar snacks to ensure safe passage.

A brief foray into the Latest On... section is to be heartily recommended. This contains enough new graphics and information on forthcoming releases to keep everyone interested, including Halo, Dino Crisis, Anachronox, Soulbringer and Obi-Wan. Dodgy humour - a recurring motif throughout the magazine - again rears its head, but combine your self-control and good taste spells to restore your composure levels.

The Reviews section is the beating heart of the magazine and yet again is what makes the PCGamer series stand head and shoulders above its peers. This section will take a long time to complete, be sure to use your hobnobs to prevent your energy levels falling too low. Starlancer, F1 World Grand Prix, Need for Speed Porsche 2000, UEFA Champions League Season 99/00, Tachyon: The Fringe and Rogue Spear: Urban Operations are among the 22 latest titles reviewed at length.

The ultimate challenge awaits though, and comes in the guise of the covermounted CDs/DVD. Battle your way through Force Commander, hammer through Rally Masters, blast through Comanche Hokum and rocket launch a
path through Quake III Fortress. Over fourteen playable demos stand between you and eternal peace, can you handle it?

PCGamer - the ultimate gaming experience.
