The Chronicle of Higher Education

General Information About Contacting Editors and Reporters

WHOM SHOULD I CONTACT?

Your best bet is to call the appropriate beat reporter. If you aren't sure whom to call, or have a broad or general question or comment about The Chronicle, or have a complaint, you may contact Doug Lederman, the managing editor. He can be reached at (202) 466-1017 or by e-mail at doug.lederman@chronicle.com.

SHOULD I CALL, WRITE, OR SEND E-MAIL?

Unless otherwise noted, you are free to communicate with The Chronicle by the method of your choice. We ask, however, that you pick one method, and not send the same material by mail, fax, and e-mail.

The Chronicle's address is 1255 23rd Street, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20037. The main phone number is (202) 466-1000, and the facsimile number is (202) 452-1033. The general e-mail address is editor@chronicle.com. See also our list of other general e-mail addresses.

Phone numbers and e-mail addresses for individual editors and reporters can be found through the list of staff members by section.

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME?

The Chronicle produces a daily news report in e-mail and on the Web, so please don't wait to let us know about important breaking news. However, if you want to chat about a long-term idea, or have a general question, the best times to call reporters are Fridays and Mondays. That is because The Chronicle closes the printed newspaper on Thursday night each week, making Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays especially busy days for editors and reporters.

If you have breaking news on Friday afternoons or on the weekends that you would like considered for possible coverage in Monday morning's daily report, please contact Scott Jaschik.
