Fort Ware

Three reserves on 391 hectares in the north eastern part of British Columbia. The community is located on Fort Ware I.R. #1.

Originally called Kwada Hi, the settlement was later renamed Fort Ware. Fort Ware was founded by "Old Davie" a native prophet highly regarded by the settlement because he could understand and translate the European's language. The first Fort Ware Band disappeared when it and the Fort Graham Band combined to become the Finlay River Band. The Finlay River Band later split, resulting in a new Fort Ware Band and the Ingenika Band.

The Fort Ware Band is part of the Sekani linguistic group.
