A definitive sign that Microsoft is aiming for Xbox penetration beyond hardcore gamers came today with the news that LEGO Company will develop titles for Xbox. A Microsoft spokesperson confirmed today that LEGO will develop Xbox titles aimed primarily at children and families. She did not reveal specific titles or age ranges.

Entertainment to produce EverGlide mouse pads bearing the EverQuest logo.
The company plans to produce
EverQuest-branded EverGlide Mousing Surfaces in a
variety of configurations.
A Slovenian airplane was forced to make an emergency landing Tuesday when a passenger's mobile phone caused its electronic system to malfunction, Reuters reported today. According to Adria Airways, the system indicated there was a fire on board. The culprit was found in the luggage compartment, a mobile phone accidentally left on.

GameCom Acquires Global VR

GameCom, a developer of interactive arcade Internet games, has signed a letter of intent to acquire Global VR, a developer of virtual reality arcade games. The acquisition will expand GameCom's product line. More information about the acquisition is available from the official press release.
Sega of America today announced the release of the Dreamcast Broadband Adapter. Dreamcast owners can replace the built-in 56K modem located at the back of their consoles, plug in the broadband adapter, and plug into a high-speed connection such as Ethernet, cable modem or DSL.
Sega released details on Naomi arcade game Spikers Battle. In the game, up to four players can fight simultaneously in a 3D environment. Players gain power-ups by breaking obstacles and can team up to perform special attacks against opponents.
The International Game Developers Association (IGDA) and the CMP Game Media Group will be presenting the Game Developer's Choice Awards (GDCA), formerly known as the Spotlight Awards, at the Game Developer's Conference (GDC) in San Jose, CA on March 23. Crave has launched a preliminary website for its upcoming superheroic tactical RPG, Freedom Force. Currently containing only teasers, the full site will allow gamers to browse through the bizarre, brightly colored, comic book-influenced world of Freedom Force. The game is being developed by Irrational Games and published by Crave Entertainment. It is due for release in Q4.

Dan Kading and other employees of Oddworld Inhabitants will be hosting a chat tomorrow night at the fan site Oddworldian to discuss the company's recent efforts. The chat will begin at 6 pm (PST) at the fan site, and at Oddworld-Web. The discussion will likely center around Munch's Oddysee, the highly anticipated game heading exclusively to the Xbox.
