Enforce good gameplay with this most verdant of controllers. |

Now that it is so difficult to get a hold of Interact's Alloy Arcade Stick, Dreamcast owners have been left in the lurch. The DC is home to some first-rate 3D and 2D fighters, but using the standard gamepad has never been ideal. Thanks to little-known Topmax, players can now pick up the Enforcer, a useful and comfortable arcade stick.

The Enforcer is a relatively light arcade stick, but because it has a rather large base with five rubber grips on the bottom, it fits comfortably on a lap or desk. The stick itself has the standard arcade ball -- as opposed to the cone-shaped Alloy Arcade -- as well as the six buttons and turbo and slow modes. The VMU socket is offset to the right but still easily visible.
If the Enforcer has one weakness, it's the amount of travel and looseness in the stick itself. Pulling off complicated moves like a super uppercut can be difficult at times because of the distance the stick has to travel, and the looseness sometimes makes double-tapping imprecise. Still, the buttons are large, about the size of quarters, and not too mushy. The start button is longer and a slightly different color, so players can find it easily in the heat of battle.
The stick only comes in translucent lime green, and the light weight and plastic shell make it look rather flimsy, but we found it to be pretty durable. We're not too excited about the looks, but in a few rounds of Marvel vs. Capcom 2, it was smooth and comfortable. For Dreamcast fans looking for an affordable and reliable arcade stick, the Enforcer is a good place to turn.
