Ashcroft discusses McVeigh execution plan

U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft said Tuesday he would do what he could to accommodate the families of the victims of the Oklahoma City bombing when Timothy McVeigh is executed next month.

Ashcroft is in Oklahoma City for a closed-door meeting with about 200 family members to discuss the possibility of a closed-circuit television feed of the execution.

Court to review holding sex predators after jail
The U.S. Supreme Court agreed Monday to clarify what type of proof states need to justify locking criminals up as sexual predators after their prison term is over. The court said it will hear Kansas' argument that it need not prove that a man was unable to control his dangerous behavior. The state contends it is enough to show that someone is dangerous and has a serious mental health problem.
