The Editorial
Associate wears many hats. From desktop layout during production to
ongoing management of author and article databases, to special projects
requiring permission research -- this is one interesting position.
As our American
Scientist audience continues to grow, permission requests have
increased substantially. We are pleased to have our articles used
in classroom education (permission
policy).
Through the
years working here at the magazine and seeing the articles representing
years of scientific research, I am always prompted to open my mind
and seek new information. Horticulture has always been a special
interest of mine. I have large flower gardens at home, serve as
the newsletter editor for our local orchid society and recently
completed Master Gardener training. Web sites I often use include
The
Plant Pathology Internet Guide book, a web site in Germany;
the American Association of
Botanical Gardens and Arboreta; the American
Orchid Society Orchid Web; Garden
Web and Garden
Gate -- The Gardener's Guide to Finding Answers on the Internet.
Somehow I still
find time to go dancing (ballroom and country-western), go fishing
for flounder at the coast, and making crafts -- especially tole
painting. Tolenet is an excellent
starting point to find out about tole painting.
Ive decided
my life is like a curly willow branch -- bends and crooks and occasionally
a fork. Life is great!
