Fremont,
CALIF.¾September
19, 2000 - Sygate®
Technologies, Inc. (formerly Sybergen Networks), a leading
provider of Internet security and access management solutions
for the mobile enterprise generation, today announced that
Sygate Home NetworkTM (formerly SyGate® for Home Office) has
achieved a landmark installed base of two million users worldwide,
strengthening its position as the world's leading Internet
access sharing software.
Sygate
Technologies Inc. announced its newest version of Sygate Home
Network 4.0 earlier this month. Since that time, the number
of downloads of this popular software has increased by more
than 50%, and many well-known portal sites - including www.download.com,
www.sina.com, www.netease.com and www.zdnet.com - have added
Sygate Home Network 4.0 to their list of available downloadable
software.
Sygate
Home Network provides a robust and secure Internet access
sharing solution for the home, SOHO and small business market.
The software enables users to share a single Internet connection
amongst multiple PCs. The new 4.0 version features Sygate's
OneNICTM technology, which significantly simplifies the process
of sharing cable modem and DSL connections for home and SOHO
users. Other new features in Sygate Home Network 4.0 include
PPPoE support (IP Fragment support), compatibility with Sygate
Personal FirewallTM 2.1 (formerly Sybergen Secure Desktop)
and all later versions of Sygate Personal Firewall, enhanced
installation functionality, expanded upgradability, and an
improved graphic user interface (GUI). Sygate Home Network
has been recognized as the easiest Internet sharing software
not only by consumers, but also by Sygate Technologies' numerous
strategic partners including Cisco, Dell, Intersil, Linksys
and Xerox.
"We
attribute Sygate Home Network's continued and unrivaled success
to its ease-of-use, reliability, affordability and the all-important
feature of a built-in-firewall. It provides simple, seamless,
secure connectivity - all the things that Sygate Technologies,
Inc. is committed to providing through its full portfolio
of products," stated Deborah Maier, vice president, sales,
Sygate Technologies, Inc.
In
a Windows magazine review, Fred Langa, industry expert and
senior contributing editor stated, "I've tried several solutions,
and my personal favorite is Sygate - it's brain-dead simple
to install and very inexpensive. Sygate lets all the machines
on the network access the Internet exactly as if they had
their own private connection. In fact, Sygate works so smoothly
and invisibly, I normally don't even notice it's there."
As
an additional reflection of Sygate Home Network's continued
success and popularity, Sygate Technologies, Inc.'s website,
www.sygate.com, has also become a popular destination for
people seeking information about Internet access and security
solutions for the mobile enterprise generation. The website
is receiving more than 12 million hits per month, a 67% increase
since May 2000. During the month of August, Sygate.com received
an average of 390,778 hits per day, and 306,014 user sessions
took place. In addition, thousands of copies of Sygate Home
Network, Sygate Office NetworkTM (formerly Sybergen Access
Server) and Sygate Personal Firewall software are being downloaded
from Sygate Technologies' website each week.
