SYGATE
TECHNOLOGIES UNVEILS POWERFUL NEW ARCHITECTURE TO SECURE THE
ENTERPRISE
Highly
Scalable Solution First to Provide Centrally Managed Protection
Against "Never-Seen-Before" Attacks
Fremont,
CALIF.¾June
19th, 2001 - Sygate
Technologies, the leader in securing the mobile enterprise,
today announced a new security architecture that revolutionizes
the way attacks on corporations are detected and defeated.
It provides the infrastructure to protect corporate centers
from the increasingly sophisticated and constantly mutating
attacks launched from “hijacked” desktops and servers. This
new architecture is the foundation for the delivery of a new
class of enterprise security solutions by Sygate and its partners.
Combining a sophisticated new ‘heuristic security engine,’
which runs on individual hosts, with security and management
servers distributed throughout the network, this foundation
enables the delivery of centrally managed solutions that are
capable of detecting intrusions that have never been seen
before, and of instantly blocking the attacks from invading
the corporate network. More importantly, it is the first enterprise
architecture to enable dynamic security policies that can
be tied to individual users, following them as they change
location and methods of connecting to the enterprise. Countermeasures
automatically adapt to the changing risks of each environment.
“Sygate’s new architecture is a significant advance in enterprise
security,” said John Adams, Chief Technology Officer of RSA
Security, Inc. “It provides the foundation for solutions needed
to address a new class of emerging corporate security threats.
By enabling IT managers to protect users outside the firewall
from Internet-based attacks with policies that follow the
user, Sygate has taken a major step towards providing a vision
of how computer networks should be protected in the future.”
Enterprises
can now protect corporate information and resources from the
exposure brought about by desktops, laptops and PDAs of remote,
mobile or corporate workers, whether connected to the corporate
network via a wireless or VPN connection, a remote dialup,
or a network jack. IT managers can manage their security environment
from an intuitive management console.
“Three
contributing factors necessitate a new approach to enterprise
security,” said John De Santis, CEO and President of Sygate
Technologies. “The increasing mobility of the corporate workforce,
the growing sophistication of Internet attacks, and the prevalence
of new network-enabled applications like NetMeeting and ICQ
combine to bring new and unacceptable levels of risk to the
enterprise. With today’s announcement, Sygate has delivered
a new distributed and centrally managed security platform
uniquely capable of protecting corporate networks from these
threats.”
Sygate
Secure Enterprise 2.0, the first solution to be released on
this platform, protects client devices with a comprehensive
set of rule-based countermeasures, allowing hosts to quickly
identify and block incoming or outgoing threats that may be
hiding in email, web, or other trusted IP traffic. Sygate
Secure Enterprise’s intuitive management applications allow
real time remote control and policy management across thousands
of distributed users. For more information on Sygate Secure
