Message: | Bob, I think we all agree with you that nothing should be done until the cause of the fire is determined. I guess what troubles me about your message is the assumption that the people posting in this thread are somehow not properly concerned with the welfare of the victims in NY or that they are focusing all their efforts on an Afghani restaurant in LA rather than helping out the multitudes of people affected by the devastation that took place last week. Isn't it possible to do both? In fact, isn't it our duty, if we want to end this kind of unspeakable terror, to make sure innocent people of all races aren't victimized by ethnic hatred? I think the reason people are posting so much about this is precisely because they are SO SHAKEN by what happened on September 11 that they want to do AS MUCH as they can, in NY and anywhere else they can make a difference. It's true that posts of this nature are not ordinarily found on this board, but now is not an ordinary time. And if people feel scared and want to show their concern, why not here among like-minded chowhounds? |
