Ah, my first CH post! Thanks for linking... I still think Thai American Express has the best burgers around, but be warned, not for the faint-of-stomach.
 
On another burger note, I recently ate at Cassell's on 6th for the first time -- called the best burger in L.A. by others on this board, including MrGrub, I believe. Definitely worth checking out if you haven't been. An old-style almost diner-like burger. But very fresh ingredients. They grind their own meat. And you get to put the burger together yourself. Good fries and lemonade too.
 
Sorry neither place is in the valley...
