Last I knew, Benita's still existed and had moved to Universal CityWalk. Unfortunately, that's far from my house, which, when added to the lameness of pretty much everything else there, means that I don't make it out there much. Last time I was there was a couple of years ago. Other than that, I agree with you on the lack of good (or any) frites around here. Even if you'll settle for regular fries, I know of few great ones. I've previously spoken highly of the Apple Pan's fries, which are pretty damn good if you order them well-done (which is key), but they don't keep at all; even less than most fries do. However, who cares if they keep? Aside from Apple Pan, I can't think of any notable fries.
