Message: | Went to this great little hole in the wall in downrtown Long Beach and was floored. Uncle Al is a Nigerian who learned to cook Southern/Cajun food somewhere, and he is a marvel. Three of us had catfish and hush puppies, fried scallops, fried shrimp, collard greens, potato salad, green beans, and seafood eggrolls, with a peach cobbler to split afterward. (We hadn't ordered the seafood eggrolls, but Al said we had ordered nearly everything else on the menu, so we should try those too - he gave us an order for free. He was right, they were excellent.) Al times his baking so that fresh cobblers and dump cakes are coming out of the oven just as the dinner rush gets going. The meal was wonderful and forty bucks for four amply fed people. Ambiance is nothing in particular but the food is splendid and service friendly. No beer or wine offered, this is an iced tea and lemonade place. Highly recommended!
