In addition to Zankou Chicken, which has already been mentioned (I prefer the one at Sunset and Normandie), your list should include Guelaguetza, the great Oaxacan restaurant (either the one on 9th Street near downtown L.A. or the one in Palms), and Sanamluang, the magnificent Thai noodle restaurant on Hollywood Blvd. in Thai Town.
