Went this week for the first time to Bistro 45 in Pasadena after reading rave upon rave in various books. I have to say I was a little disappointed. They have a good wine list, but they don't (at least our waiter) seem to have a good grasp of it. And I thought the food was really unsubtle. Some of it was good, but each of my dishes had really strong supporting flavors (fruity) that overwhelmed the main ingredient. We were also rushed through our meal as the courses came out of the kitchen at a breakneack pace. I might be inclined to give it another chance and order some other things from the menu. Have others had similar experiences or are we in the minority?
