I'd say outside of Tommy's (you have to go to the original at Rampart & Beverly), your best chance for heartburn is The Kosher Burrito on First, downtown LA. Noticing a number of Pasadena spots, you could additionally try Lucky Boy Burgers on the Arroyo Parkway, Wolfe Burgers on Lake, and I think you might like the jerk chicken sandwich at Green Street East on Shopper's Lane.
Beyond these sorts of picks you might want to think about Philly Cheese Steaks (see prior posts) and pizzas (ditto).
