Message: | Sid's just east of Tponga on Roscoe Blvd, is an older place w/ lots of character. Red vinyl booths , and an abundance of fish tanks (not of food stuff's but of decor)and tons of decor! Kinda run down by say "Red Lobster" standards. But it draws a huge crowd on most nights, from all around. They offer "secure" parking, which is probably "manditory" given the neighborhood. I've been to Sids probably 6-10 times in the last 5 years. When dining with kids, it's not alway's the most friendly. When I've been with my wife (sans kids) our experience has been the food is pretty good. Not great, like you'd expect say while dining near the water, but better than most seafood in L.A. I actually had the Clams & the Haddock abot a year ago, they weren't bad. I was told by my friend from Boston who ordered the Haddock, it was really hard to find here in Los Angeles. Most everthing is quite tasty though, although it is kind of "pricy" for L.A. seafood. The desserts are trucked in from otside though, and are just okay. Even the "chooclate box" is average. Save dessert for "Cheesecake Factory"! A real high note there is the bread, and the rolls, and the New England Clam Chowder. My kids eat a ton of it when we go there. I'd say if entree's were $2-$5 less each it would be a great place. It's better than most L.A. seafood, and a good Chowhound Find. And as always better than "all you can eat "crab/shrimp" at Sizzler! |
