I'm surprised that you had a bad time there. The last time I went, I had a very enjoyable evening. We went on a weeknight however, so that might be a reason why the waitstaff was very attentive. The hostess was very friendly, taking the time out to talk to one of my friends as she waited for the rest of us to arrive. Also, two of our dishes (the cornish hen) were taking a while to come out of the kitchen so that chef came to our table to assure us our food was on the way. Each of us had ordered from their prix-fixe weeknight menu so the price for dinner ($15 for appetizer, entree and dessert) was more than adequate, especially in LA! And you are right, the room is beautifully decorated with dark wood and tall mirrors.
