Claes is excellent - we were there last year & can't believe we haven't been back yet. Plan on cocktails on the outside heated patio right on the beach and then, if not sunset yet, a window table in the restuarant. After sunset, it gets pretty dark to see anything. Can't remember specific dishes, but everyone had delicious seafood in very good sauces - highly recommended!
 
L'Hirondelle was the name of the restaurant I was trying to remember for the people going to the Coach House - thank! Doesn't Hirondelle mean swallow (as in bird, not gulp)? It's a cute little country French (& I also believe Belgian) restaurant. Is not upscale like Clae's, or the refinement of say, Pascal's, but is good & charming - right across from the Mission if I remember correctly.
 
P.S. Save the Mission - this wonderful piece of Calif history is sadly crumbling - the swallows won't have anywhere to return to soon.
