La Serenata on Pico just west of Westwood blvd. and Westside Pavillion, on the south side of the street has excellent Mexican food. Get the cheese or cheese and mushroom quesidilla (sp?) (you've never seen anything like it), plus they have amazing fish entrees, sopes, empanades, etc.
 
The original La Serenata di Garibaldi is in the Valley (?), but I haven't been. It's supposed to be amazing and a little pricier. There's also a La Serenata di Garibaldi on 4th street in Santa Monica across from the Border Grill if you want a nicer environment, but for excellent food and cheaper prices, you can't beat the one on Pico.
