Message: | if you are looking for sushi, there are many other better sushi bars in town. also, they really cram you in at the Matsuhisa sushi bar - by far the tightest seating i've ever experienced. as for the "omakase" or cooked dishes, some are wonderful and some are just ok. there is little ambiance, and it lacks the friendliness and generosity of many smaller japanese places. if you get the omakase and a few sakes/beers, it will run about $120 a person, ($80 food, $15 drink, $25 tax and tip). as a comparison, i had a blowout dinner at The Hump a couple of weeks ago - it was $320 for two. (expense account). imo, Nobu in nyc is much better. gordon |
