You also may want to try Jumping Java at 11919 Ventura in Studio City. Not a hole-in-the-wall -- more akin to Jinky's. But for my money, the food is 100 times better than Jinky's and the wait is far shorter. Dies get a little busy on weekends, but not too bad.
 
I know this is an obvious one, but my wife and I end up at Mel's Diner on Ventura in Sherman Oaks just about every weekend for breakfast. The food is always very good, the service excellent, and the price is right.
