Message: | Long Beach does have one of hte largest Cambodian populations outside of Phnom Penh. It is centered around Anaheim St. I haven't had a tremendous amount of luck breaking into the restaurant scene there. Siem Reap is always good and very friendly. Their menu is broken into 3 parts: Chinese, Thai and Cambodian. That is a clue to what may be the main problem: Cambodians I know all say that when people go out to eat in Cambodia, they go out for Chinese food ... just as inthe 1960s Americans would go out for French food. They say that Cambodian cuisine is essentially home cooking. There is also a big Chinese Palace kind of place called Hak Heang, but I haven't eaten there. |
