No one is complaining about "lack of service" in terms of signing up for the mailing list. It is fully understood that this site is more a "labor of love" than anyting remotely commercial. ChowHound solicts visitors to sign-up for the mailing list. I did so thinking that ChowHound *wanted* to know who I am and where they can reach me so they can target me, for such things as solicitations to support this site, or to alert me to this site's plight, or to alert me to the fact that ChowMarket opened up.
 
In other words, all I am trying to say is, everyone's (who are associated with supporting this stie) good intentions notwithstanding, the management of the mailing list is apparently not working.
